You do not have to travel to Japan to experience amazing Cherry blossoms and beautiful Magnolia trees blooming. In Vienna, there are many magnificent spots where you can enjoy their view and take some creative spring pictures for your social media. Since spring in Vienna is my all-time favorite time of the year, each year I hunt down my favorite trees and try to discover new ones.

My top 4 Cherry Blossom spots in Vienna
All the look spectacular and turn Vienna into this beautiful colorful city for a few weeks between March and April. After living in Vienna for four years, I always look forward to visiting those four places. You need to remember that each tree blooms depending on the weather conditions in that year, so it might happen that some of them are already “after,” and others are “before” full bloom on the same day.
Votivkirche
I would like to introduce you to Vienna’s most popular magnolia tree – Instagram famous. Its low-hanging blossoms contribute to its popularity. I feel that each year this is also the one which blooms as one of the first and already first weeks of April is starting to lose its flowers. But each year is different – so make sure to check it out – it is impossible to miss it.
Stadtpark
I just managed to see this tree blooming this year – and omg, so spectacular! It is on the side of the Am Heumarkt road by Stadtgartendirektion.
Additionally, in the park itself, you can spot many pink trees – close to the Stadtpark metro station.
Setagaya Park – Tokyo in Vienna
If you don’t know about it, you will easily skip the Setagaya Park at the corner of Doeblinger Hauptstraße / Hohe Warte and Barawitzkagasse. The entrance to a beautiful Japanese garden lies next to a retirement home (best to enter via Hohe Warte).
Yes, this is a VERY small park. Yes, it gets crowded on weekends, but when you are lucky – like I was (medium weather on Saturday afternoon) you can get to this place with just a few people and enjoy all the colors and flowers!

Hainburger Weg
Vienna’s amazing Hainburger Weg – the cherry blossom street. This was the pace when I definitely spent way too much time taking pictures… but you cannot blame me! You can take the U3 to Schlachthausgasse and get off there. Then go up the stairs to Schlachthausgasse, and you will see the pink blossoms.
Enjoy the Spring vibes in Vienna!
Many trees are on private properties (do not go there, obviously!), and some of them are just spread around town by the streets – here, for example (picture below) is the tree next to my trash bin, haha, but it is beautiful, and I always wait for it to go pink!
If you walk around Vienna for 30 min in the district you are in – I am sure you will spot some too! Of course, assuming you are here in March or April.
Happy tree hunting!
